As the Seasons change do you review your farm insurance policy to see if it is accommodating to your operations?  Probably not.

Let me give you an example of why you should take few minutes to give your agent a call before starting new ventures.

In the Spring, do you post a sign and invite people to come onto your property and pick their own strawberries?  Summer, you have an abundance of fresh garden vegetables and you are taking them to Farmers Markets off premises to sell.  Fall is the best.  We have a pick your own pumpkin and apple operation, a corn maze, hayrides, petting zoos along with all the fall produce with jellies and jams to be sold.  Maybe you decide to rent that empty barn out for a haunted house.  Winter is right behind when you are giving customers axes and saws to cut their own Christmas trees.  You’re selling wreaths and fresh cut greens. Have you ever entertained the idea of opening a Bed & Breakfast since you are now an empty nester?

All of these ideas are a way of bringing in more income from the farm but you have to be careful to make sure you have adequate coverage.  Your farm policy may not automatically cover these types of operations.   Agritainment/Agritourism coverage may be what you need. Contact your agent and let them help you customize your policy to suit your needs.
