Spring has sprung and April is just around the corner!  April showers may bring May flowers but they can also bring water-related claims to your household.  Damp basements, roof damage, water backup of sewers and drains….even flooding.

Is your Homeowners insurance or Business insurance written correctly to cover you for these possible claims?  Most homeowners and business policies do not automatically cover the extensive water damage that could result from a sewage backup but coverage is available for a nominal charge.

Untreated Mold can not only cause severe property damage but also serious illness.  Proper remediation is essential to cleanup and should be handled by a professional.

Does your insurance cover water damage caused by a leaky roof?  Normal “wear and tear” to the roof is not covered but the damage to your walls, carpeting, ceilings and furnishings IS covered by some Homeowners forms.  An article in the Insurance Journal stated that one insurer found the likelihood of a water damage claim ten times more likely than fire.

Water damage is the second most frequently filed insurance claim in the Unites States and almost 40 percent of all homeowners have said that they have experienced loss from water damage.

Heavy rains can also loosen the soil around tree roots causing them to fall on your property or a neighbor’s.  Is a situation like this totally covered by insurance?
