Did you know it is now a law in Maryland you have an Insurance Identification Card?

It is!   To avoid a $50 fine you need to have  either an electronic format on your cell phone/other portable devices or an actual Identification Card. officer-holding-cell-phone

The card must contain the following:

  • The name of the insured covered by the auto insurance policy
  • The vehicle covered by the insurance policy
  • The policy coverage dates

If you do not have or cannot find your card, please contact your agent. They will be happy to email or mail you the card.

To also avoid a fine, be sure you return your tags to Department of Motor Vehicles BEFORE you remove a vehicle from your insurance policy.   If you are still in possession of your tags and have cancelled the insurance the fine is $150 for the first 30 days and $7 each day thereafter.
